Chelsea On The Verge Of Making Transfer Mistake More Worse Than Kevin De Bruyne And Mohamed Salah

Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, who were once part of Chelsea, were sold by the club. De Bruyne is now an outstanding player for Manchester City, while Salah shines as a star player for Liverpool.

If Chelsea decides to sell center-back Levi Colwill this summer, they run the risk of making a transfer error even worse than the ones involving Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah. Colwill showcased his abilities during a loan period with Brighton last season, and now the Seagulls are eagerly trying to secure the 20-year-old’s services permanently.

Chelsea has a history of successfully developing talented young players from Europe and sending them out on loan. If these players are not deemed suitable for regular first-team positions at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea often sells them permanently in exchange for a transfer fee.

This was the case with De Bruyne and Salah, who both joined Chelsea but were later sold to other clubs. Despite their limited appearances for Chelsea, De Bruyne and Salah have become highly regarded players in the Premier League. Chelsea’s decision to let them go turned out to be significant errors.

Chelsea will have undoubtedly learned from the missed opportunity of benefiting from De Bruyne and Salah’s remarkable progress in the game. However, under Todd Boehly’s leadership, there is no assurance that they won’t repeat the same mistake.

Despite not yet making his competitive debut for Chelsea, Colwill demonstrated his potential in the Premier League last season while playing for Brighton, contributing to their sixth-place finish. Although he had a period of absence due to injury, he became a regular starter towards the end of the season and effectively handled top strikers in notable matchups.

Before his time at Brighton, Colwill already impressed as a teenager while playing for Huddersfield in the Championship during the 2021/22 season, helping the team reach the play-off final. Additionally, he showcased his exceptional form for England’s under-21 team in the European Championship, aiding his country’s journey to the final.

Colwill possesses a composed and confident playing style, excellent positioning, and remarkable passing abilities. There is a strong possibility that he could become a prominent player in the Premier League and make his mark on the international stage for the next decade or more.

Liverpool has shown interest in signing Colwill, and Chelsea may face pressure to sell if the player indicates a reluctance to sign a new contract. Talks with Mauricio Pochettino, who intends to build his team around the young center-half, are planned. However, if Chelsea decides to offload Colwill, they may regret their decision for many years to come.
