The Evening Standard recently claimed that Inter Milan feared Juventus could beat them in the race to sign Lukaku . In fact, the latter have submitted a proposal for Chelsea’s £40million- rated attacker, but they can’t proceed with any deal until they sell Dusan Vlahovic.
Now, Di Marzio has provide a fascinating update on Saturday afternoon regarding Lukaku. Di Marzio claims that Inter have now decided to withdraw their interest in Lukaku despite previously submitting an offer in the range of €40million (£34million).
It is understood that Inter’s hierarchy told the Chelsea-owned forward last night he’s not in their plans. Apparently, it was over a phone call that lasted around 30 seconds. The report adds that Inter will now inform Chelsea of their stance before they look elsewhere to sign a new frontman.
It’s worth highlighting the interesting line in the report above that mentions Lukaku had already started to negotiate a potential move to Juventus while he was still on loan at Inter last season. In fact, he discussed a switch to Turin while Inter were still preparing for last season’s Champions League final, which he featured in off the bench.
