Winger announces ‘he is excited’ after getting Chelsea transfer deal done. Dion Rankine has admitted his excitement at joining Exeter City on loan from Premier League giants Chelsea.

Rankine becomes signing number four of the summer for Exeter after the decision was made from Chelsea to allow him to leave on loan and gain some much needed experience. He is a player that the Blues have big hopes for and the scouts will be keeping a close eye on him over the next few months to see if he will be ready to play for CHELSEA in the coming seasons.

And speaking from the beach at Sennen where he linked up with his new teammates for surfing, Rankine says is buzzing to get started for his new side. WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

“This is my first loan so I am so excited to get going,” Rankine said. “I jumped straight in the car when I heard it was getting sorted and this is a great place to get to know the lads. Everyone here has been so kind and welcoming.

“I played against Exeter a few years ago so I know the club and the stadium, and it’s a great setup here, so I didn’t need to give it much thought. The club is a perfect fit for me because they’re all about development, and it’s an opportunity for me to get more minutes in men’s football.

“I’m a hard-working agile winger that likes to get one v ones, and cause problems for the opposition, creating chances for the team and myself.”

If he gets the game time – if he impressed on loan and is given the chance at Chelsea – then this is a good move for the lad. It will give him a taste of what professional football is all about, but the hard work starts now as he needs to step up his game and warn those minutes on the pitch.
