Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has claimed that neither Chelsea or Manchester United can afford to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window. The Nigerian striker featured 32 times in a title-winning Serie A campaign last season, netting 26 times.
While Napoli are, understandably, desperate to hold onto the Nigeria international, football.london understands that the Blues have not been put off by their stubborn stance . Osimhen's contract is set to expire in 2025, Chelsea may have to remain patient if they want to secure his signature.
De Laurentiis has insisted that the 24-year-old will not leave Napoli unless the Italian outfit receives an 'obscene offer'. The club president said:
"We will see Victor Osimhen wearing our shirt next season, that's for sure. "If a more than obscene offer arrives, we will move on and find another top talent, just like we did with [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen," he added.
Napoli are said to have set a £128million asking price for Osimhen in an effort to deter any interested parties from trying to sign him.
De Laurentiis has now claimed that only Paris Saint-Germain
could afford to sign the Nigeria international during the
summer transfer window due to his substantial valuation. The
Napoli president has set a new price tag and suggested that
only offers in the region of €200million (£170m) would be
considered by the Italian side.
"The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint- Germain," De Laurentiis told Mediaset. "If Nasser Al Khelaifi [PSG president] wants to send in a bid around €200m (£170m)... we wait and we see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here."
