Ian Maatsen posts three-word reaction on Instagram after Omari Hutchinson leaves Chelsea on loan

Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson completed his move to Championship club Ipswich Town late on Thursday night. The Blues confirmed on their official website that Omari Hutchinson , who’s just 19, has joined up with Ipswich on a season-long loan for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

It certainly looks like an exciting time to be joining Ipswich, who were promoted from League One last season playing an attacking style of football. Hopefully, Hutchinson will get plenty of minutes during the first loan of his career. Hutchinson has done superbly well at youth level with both Chelsea and Arsenal in the past, but he’s now taking his first real leap into first-team football.

The 19-year-old winger has uploaded an Instagram post celebrating his loan transfer. He’s received a three-word message from Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen in the comment section, who’s the perfect example of how good the Championship can be as a learning ground.

Maatsen, 21, is currently working with the main Chelsea group during the pre-season tour of the United States. In fact, he scored twice in the recent 5-0 win over Wrexham. The left-back has improved so much during three separate loans in recent years, including last year when he starred in Burnley winning the Championship title to secure a return to the Premier League.

Has Maatsen now done enough to work his way into the first- team plans at Stamford Bridge, though? Hutchinson played two senior games last season in Chelsea colours, but it seems pretty obvious he needs first-team minutes to improve his game.

He’s a very technical attacker that loves to dribble and score goals. His next challenge is trying to replicate that in men’s football. He will improve physically and mentally if things go well at Ipswich. We will definitely be keeping a close eye on his progress this season.
