‘He’s fine’: Chelsea player is not injured, will be on pre-season tour - journalist

Journalist Simon Johnson has claimed that Reece James is actually okay after a recent injury scare. He took to Twitter to state that the defender is fine despite having a precautionary scan on his knee today. With the side finishing in 12 in the league, no one had a more frustrating time of things than James.

He was unable to build on what has so far been a sensational young career, with injuries keeping him out of the side for long spells. They also ruined his hopes of playing at the World Cup, where he would have surely been considered for a starting role in Gareth Southgate’s side.

James injury concern

There were hopes that a break over the summer would see him return to full fitness and ready to perform next season. He was one of the first players to return to pre-season, as he looked to make his mark on Mauricio Pochettino the new Chelsea boss.

However, Johnson has claimed that he is actually okay, and ready to represent the Blues on tour. He said:

“As per Nizaar Kinsella, Reece James has had a scan after feeling a bit of pain in his knee. But I’m told he’s fine and good to go on #CFC’s pre-season tour.”

It was claimed in the past few days by the defender’s own father that he has no plans to leave the club, which is a mentality which won’t have been lost on supporters after recent events. After Mason Mount, the club are hopeful that fellow academy graduates will be less likely to jump the boat at the first sign of competition.
