Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Mauricio Pochettno is set to work very closely with Levi Colwill during the upcoming Chelsea pre-season. He took to Twitter to state that the player will not be looking to force a move away if he is offered a clear pathway to the first team.
There is a lot of talk over where Colwill will be playing his football next season, following his breakthrough campaign in the Premier League. He looked extremely impressive for Brighton, and it is not surprising that they have wanted to make his time at the club permanent.
It has even been claimed that the player himself would be keen on the move too. Pochettino to work hands on with Colwill However, Jacobs has claimed that the Blues remain with the opinion that he is not for sale, and Pochettino is looking forward to getting to work with the 20-year-old this summer. He said:
“Chelsea’s position remains that Levi Colwill is not for sale. Mauricio Pochettino plans to be really hands on with him in pre-season. Brighton have mentioned Colwill in Moises Caicedo talks. It’s a normal tactic, but Chelsea haven’t engaged.
“Colwill will have to really force a move if he wants to leave and there will be no reason to if he’s given a clear pathway. His desire for instant game time comes from the fact it’s been communicated to him that he stands a real chance of Euro 2024 selection and England minutes.”
The defensive options at the club already would be the only reason anyone would doubt whether the highly-talented youngster has an immediate path to the first team. They already have the likes of Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, whilst Thiago Silva still has another year to give his wisdom.
