Chelsea pre-season tour squad hint as Blues receive Rayan Cherki 'postive feedback'

Chelsea's pre-season is well underway and the transfer window is wide open as the second week of July comes to a close. Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson have trained under Mauricio Pochettino for the first time, while Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won't be returning until next week.

The Blues still have more business to do in player sales and will also want to add players to their squad such as Moises Caicedo but Pochettino's plans will have to begin to come together with the west London side's friendly in less than seven days' time. Soon Pochettino will be forced to name his first squad to fly out to the United States, with his first team selection to quickly follow for Wrexham in North Carolina.

There's no shortage of news to follow or debate at Chelsea this summer and Chelsea writers Scott Trotter and Bobby Vincent discuss all of the above and more on the latest episode of View from the Bridge podcast.

The duo dipped into what clues Pochettino has already made to the players he may select, the latest transfer news including on another young star in Rayan Cherki. The Blues have already made contact. Bobby said:

"What Cherki is, that Chelsea probably don't have, is more of an attacking midfielder. If Pochettino is to play the 4231 we expect, he's probably the most natural No.10 compared to anyone in the Chelsea squad. With Mason Mount going, and Pulisic, it's kind of a replacement for them.

Without having seen too much of him, he's very exciting. I spoke to a Lyon fan who could not speak highly enough of him. He said he has the potential to be the greatest [product from Lyon], he's the most naturally gifted. He's a real flair footballer, someone who is very skilful and direct.

"Chelsea have spoken to his representatives about a move before they sounded out Lyon. I think there was positive feedback, so the player would want the move. Chelsea are very interested, when they watched Malo Gusto last season, he caught the eye then. Nothing advanced as of yet but definitely one to keep an eye on."
