Chelsea drop Moises Caicedo transfer hint as medical scheduled in Mauricio Pochettino boost

Caicedo hint

Chelsea have dropped a hint that Moises Caicedo could be on his way to Stamford Bridge later this summer after releasing their pre-season squad numbers. The Blues have left a handful of usually sought after kit numbers open for their tour of America with none of their new signings offered a final number.

Ahead of playing Brighton and Caicedo on Saturday, is is clear that the Ecuadorian's favoured No.25 is still yet to be taken as well as famous No.7 and No.8 jerseys. Chelsea have a long history with each one and could yet use it to sweeten a deal for the 21-year-old.

Aubameyang medical scheduled

Chelsea are close to watching Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave the club less than 12 months after signing him from Barcelona. The Gabon striker has agreed a deal to join Marseille and will now have his medical in France on Thursday.

The 34-year-old scored three times for Chelsea, all in the space of two weeks in October when he started life in west London well. A change of management just days into his move saw him fall out of favour early though.

He is now set to become the 11th first team player from last season to exit the club and it is expected that the Blues will allow him to depart for free in order to make a transfer as smooth as possible. With Aubameyang left out of the 29-man squad for pre-season, it is a boost for Pochettino looking forward to his return from America.

Verratti interest

Chelsea are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, according to Sky Sports. The Italian has previously played under Mauricio Pochettino and could be reunited later this window as the Blues look for more midfield options.

"I think PSG’s official position is that the player is not for sale, but I think, reading between the lines, they would listen to offers for him, offers that match their valuation," Kaveh Solhekol said. "I think their valuation is about £70million.

"We have also been told that two Premier League clubs are interested in signing him. The names we were told were Liverpool and Chelsea.

"We haven’t been able to confirm that, it could be he’s a player who has been offered to Liverpool and Chelsea – by agents or intermediaries who are trying to make some money and they know Liverpool and Chelsea are looking for midfielders, but it looks like he could be a player who could be leaving PSG in the next few weeks."
